BAU is the world’s leading trade fair for architecture, materials and building systems held every two years in Germany. It attracts record numbers of visitors – in 2019  the show saw as many as 250 000 visitors in total with 85 000 foreign visitors and over 2250 exhibitors from 45 countries who showcased their products in 19 exhibition halls.

The stand designed for Aluprof didn’t belong to those large ones, but despite that fact, it definitely attracted the attention of the visitors as it stood out from the rival stands. When it comes to the process of designing a stand, it is important to keep in mind how big (or actually how small) it is.    

First of all, the starting point for every single stand is the exhibition hall map and the floor plan. Having collected all the necessary information and thought the project out, we can start the process of creating a stand.

Using the play of light and shadow when the colours of the elevation are dark in order to achieve a particular effect in design is not only just a tough challenge but also a kind of professional skill required from designers. The visual aspects are of great importance, but so is planning the area for business conversations. We created an additional eye-catching decoration made from 180 little windows, which corresponded to the products of Aluprof – since they were suspended from the ceiling, they moved gently and, as a result, the stand gained a truly stunning composition.
